1. Who we are

Matchwork (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a professional matching platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data when you use our service at matchwork.app.

2. Data we collect

Account data: email address, name, profile photo, role (candidate/employer).
Profile data: bio, headline, location, skills/tags, availability status, links (GitHub, LinkedIn, Portfolio), resume/CV PDF.
Activity data: swipes (left/right), matches, timeline entries.
Technical data: IP address (for rate limiting), browser type, cookies.

3. Legal basis for processing

Contract performance: Account data and profile data are processed to provide the service you signed up for (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Legitimate interest: Activity data is processed to deliver core matching functionality (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Consent: Analytics cookies are only set with your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

4. How we use your data

To show your profile to other users (candidates or employers).
To calculate and display matches.
To personalise your swipe experience.
To send you email notifications about matches (if opted in).
To comply with legal obligations.

5. Data sharing

We do not sell your data. We share data only with:

Supabase Inc. — database and authentication infrastructure (EU region).
Resend Inc. — transactional email delivery.
Law enforcement when legally required.

6. Data retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. After account deletion, data is permanently removed within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it longer.

7. Your rights under GDPR

Right of access: Request a copy of your data via Settings → Download your data.
Right to erasure: Delete your account in Settings → Danger zone.
Right to rectification: Edit your profile at any time.
Right to data portability: Download your data as JSON from Settings.
Right to object: Contact us at privacy@matchwork.app.
Right to lodge a complaint: Contact your national supervisory authority.
